UNDERGRADUATE HONOURS THESIS

Dr. Starzyk prefers to supervise honours students who have been involved in the lab previously but also encourages other highly motivated students to get in touch. Importantly, Dr. Starzyk strongly prefers students start on their honours thesis in the spring/summer term; to complete their literature review and ethics application as well as set up their study on Qualtrics and SONA (the study systems) before the fall. To provide financial support for this, Dr. Starzyk and prospective honours students will co-develop undergraduate award funding applications. The earliest is due in January.

Interested students should email the following to katherine.starzyk@umanitoba.ca:

  1. a curriculum vitae (an academic resume) or a resume

  2. a writing sample (e.g., paper from a class, if available)

  3. an unofficial transcript

  4. a description of long-term academic or professional goals

Typically the honors students in Dr. Starzyk’s lab have a high GPA (4.0 and higher) and plan to apply to a graduate program in Psychology or other disciplines or a professional program (e.g., Medicine, Law).

Dr. Starzyk will not be taking on an honors student for 2024-2025 but expects to have one space for the 2025-2026 academic year.
